I live in Bristol, England, and I have four grown up children. I qualified in medicine in 1980, and after working as a junior doctor in England and overseas, specialised in Public Health, practising mainly in the sphere of health screening programmes and services to help those affected by cancer – ranging from tobacco control through to end of life care.
As well as my local role in Bristol, I have worked as a Consultant to the UK National Screening Programmes since 1996 and am lead author of what in England is affectionately called ‘the screening bible’ (Screening; evidence and practice OUP 2019 2nd edition). In 2008 I became involved in the Transition Towns movement, leading me to shift my public health work to helping create a more sustainable and ethical food culture and system within the Bristol region. I helped set up The Community Farm in the Chew Valley and I chair the Farm’s management committee. I was a member of the Bristol Shambhala group from 2016 (until 2019), leading me to become involved in Buddhist Project Sunshine as a volunteer helper from 2018.

What to bring: Comfortable clothing, a quiet space, and willingness to rest
Sam is a guide of rest and peace.
Rooted in Yoga Nidra, seasonal wisdom, and earth-based spirituality, her work creates spaces where the nervous system can soften and the soul can remember itself.
She works with rest as a sacred act, one that restores inner peace and reconnects people to the rhythms of nature, sacred water, and spirit. Her practice is guided by the presence of the goddess, particularly Nemetona, keeper of the sacred groves.
Based in Buxton, England, a place known for its ancient healing springs, Sam weaves the wisdom of water, rest, and devotion into every offering, holding spaces where peace is not forced, but gently remembered.

I'm Andrea Winn, a Diamond Heart Leadership Coach who has spent over 50 years in contemplative practice—growing up in a Tibetan Buddhist community and training in transformative healing modalities that integrate clarity, courage, and compassionate power.
My path has required me to embody the principles I teach. In 2017-2018, I led Buddhist Project Sunshine, breaking decades of institutional silence to create survivor-centered accountability in one of the largest Buddhist organizations in the West. More recently, I spent nine months standing firm against Canada's largest residential landlord in a tenant rights case, representing myself through multiple court hearings while documenting systemic policy failures.
These experiences taught me something essential: the practices that sustain us through collective challenge are not optional luxuries—they are foundational necessities.
Heroic action is not a sprint—it's a marathon. And marathons require restoration. The work of standing firm, holding boundaries, and speaking truth in the face of institutional power demands that we tend our inner flame with the same commitment we bring to our external efforts. Without genuine rest and replenishment, we deplete ourselves and lose access to the clarity and steadiness our work requires.
That's why I've invited Dr. Angela Raffle and Sam Fillingham to offer these sessions with me. Angela brings the gift of deep relaxation and elder wisdom through Sacred Parallel Play. Sam guides us into profound rest through Nidra for Peace, calling on ancient healing waters and the gentle presence of the goddess. These are practitioners whose medicine I trust—whose offerings create the kind of restoration that Warriors of Peace need right now.
I believe that in times of upheaval, our greatest service is not pushing through exhaustion or performing resilience we don't feel. Our greatest service is genuine restoration—so we can meet what's required of us from a place of groundedness rather than depletion.
These offerings are my gift to you. Not as strategies to "fix" yourself or become more productive—but as sacred spaces to rest, to be held by community, and to remember that your strength is still there, even when you can't feel it.
Come as you are. Bring whatever energy you have. It will be enough.
