I was fortunate to grow up in the Shambhala community. Shambhala Buddhism is a wonderful blend of Indian Buddhism and the ancient Shamanic Tibetan Bön tradition, with cultural influences from Britain and Japan.

As a child of this community I was taught various arts, including Japanese archery (Kyudo), Japanese flower arranging (Ikebana), Japanese tea ceremony (Cha), and a Zen Buddhist monastic form for eating (Oriyoki).

The Shambhala community wove gentleness with fearlessness through all facets of our lives together, in a lively and intelligent manner. This gave me a flexible and strong foundation of discipline that has carried me well in pursuing my life adventure.
